Before You Apply

Renters and landlords must submit applications and supporting documents like a pay stub or copy of a lease. Applications without supporting documents will not be processed.

Have these documents ready before getting started. There is a time limit once you begin the application process and you won’t be able to save as you go. Call 412-248-0021 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or email for help at any time!

For Renters/Lessees:

Required

There are different supporting documents required depending on your life situation. Read closely to determine which applies to you.

  • Income - Verification of your Household Income (includes only persons named on the Lease) for one month prior to the application date. Income includes ONLY:
    • Wages
    • Commission/Fees
    • Gross Business Income
    • Any other compensation for work/services employed or self-employed
    • Acceptable ways to document your income include:
      • Paystub(s) OR
      • A letter from your employer to verify your pre-tax earnings
  • Loss of Income (to be submitted only for the applicant/Lessee)
    • If you’re getting unemployment or were approved for it before March 1, 2020, please submit proof of your unemployment letter  OR
    • If you have not been approved for or not received unemployment submit proof of your income for one pay period prior to your loss or decrease of income AND one pay period after your loss or decrease of income. Loss or decrease of income cannot have started prior to March 1.
  • Proof of Residency - A document to verify residency at your current address such as a gas bill, canceled check, I.D. or pay stub (if you submitted a pay stub for income verification, there is no need to include twice).
  • Lease confirmation – A copy of your written lease. Renters with an oral lease are still eligible to participate.
    • If you have a written lease, please submit a copy of it.

For Landlords:

  • A lease agreement for each renter
  • W9
  • Required payment information to receive the disbursement of funds

Apply

For renters/lessees:

  1. Complete and submit your application online now! (Preferred. We will do our best to get to all applications promptly, but online submissions will be processed most quickly.) OR 
    Download and complete the Lessee Household Certification/Renter Application with supporting documentation.

  2. Contact your landlord to complete the Landlord Application and Landlord Property Certification.

  3. Include required supporting documents (i.e., pay stub, copy of a lease) with your application. Applications without supporting documents are not able to be processed quickly, which will cause delays in determining your eligibility for rental assistance.

For landlords:

  1. Complete and submit your application online now!(Preferred. We will do our best to get to all applications promptly, but online submissions will be processed most quickly.) OR
    Download and complete the following (2) application documents:

    • Landlord Application
    • Landlord Property Certification
  2. Contact your tenant(s) to download and complete the Lessee Household Certification/Renter Application with supporting documentation.

  3. Include required supporting documents (i.e., proof of ownership, lease agreement) with your application or it will not be processed. Applications without supporting documents are not able to be processed quickly, which will cause delays in determining your eligibility for rental assistance.

Drop off

Drop off your application between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday-Friday (except for holidays).

FREE 10-minute parking is available in the One Chatham Center lot which is only accessible from Washington Place when headed towards 5th Ave. After Centre Ave, take the first right into what appears to be the Marriott parking lot then veer left to continue around the back of the building.
